Ready, steady, PITCH

It's fast pitch time again.....

In early 2008, Todd Wackrow, 27, was already CEO of POCKETvouchers, with some large brand clients and big dreams for the future growth of his company.

Always searching around for good advice to help turn his dreams into reality, Wackrow entered the 2008 ICEHOUSE FAST Pitch competition and won a place on the 3-month Market Validation programme as a virtual resident of The ICEHOUSE incubator. His business continues to grow and now has a complete business plan together with a solid plan for how to execute it.

The current economic climate doesn’t have to be daunting when you are well set up and have a good product, says Wackrow. “In fact, to some degree it may help us. The potential for mobile discount vouchers is huge because they drive sales and are more cost efficient and measurable than paper vouchers.

Rebel Sport and Liquorland are two retailers who have seen great results over summer. The ICEHOUSE experience has really prepared me well for capitalizing in any market conditions. Successful business is 5% in the plan and 95% in the execution. Having people alongside you on a day-to-day basis to help with the motivation to execute is invaluable.”

Todd Wackrow says: “Even if I hadn’t been lucky enough to win, it was still incredible value. There was just so much expertise available. You get to tap into the Angel investor network, have your shot and get fantastic feedback. I went hard on the pre-work in the presentations and workshops. I was already doing reasonably well in sales, this really took me up a notch in my presentation skills and gave me connections and strategies I didn’t know about before. I would really encourage people to enter and get the most out of it you can.”

Terry Allen, the ICEHOUSE Executive-in-Residence who worked with Wackrow, describes him as “determined and one of the most disciplined guys I’ve met. To be a successful entrepreneur, you need to have more than a good idea, you need the right attitude and the right characteristics. Todd is open to outside advice, but doesn’t just hop on the bandwagon of the last person he spoke to. He knows how to temper external opinions with his own good judgment. He forms a path and then he follows it. Todd Wackrow will be a name to watch in the future.”

Register now for the FAST Pitch Event Series: 8 October, 15 October and 27 October.
