The Power of Angel Investing

Hosted by the NZ Angel Association "The Power of Angel Investing" is a day long seminar providing a comprehensive overview of the angel investing process.

The seminar will be led by John May, chairman of the Angel Capital Association (USA) and managing partner of New Vantage Group (NVG), a firm that directs private equity into early- stage companies.

New Vantage Group administers the Dinner Club, eMedia Club, the Washington Dinner Club and the newly formed Active Angel Investors. John is co-author of 'Every Business Needs an Angel' and co-editor of the book and multimedia CD 'State of the Art: an Executive Briefing on Cutting-Edge Practices in American Angel Investing'. John's facilitation of the day will be supported by experienced local Angel investors and industry experts.

Ice Angels - Investment Evening

The Ice Angels are Australasia's largest Angel Investment network consisting of a collective of individual investors, rather than a pooled investment fund.

Investors make their own decisions on investments and usually take an active role in the direction of the company following investment. Ice Angels are typically CEOs, senior executives, entrepreneurs and professionals with experience in the entrepreneurial space. Our Angels are active investors, and in addition to supplying cash to the venture, they take a proactive role in developing investments.

AWE Community Launch (Auckland Web Entrepreneurs)
Featuring Richard MacManus

Wellington has Silicon Welly, Dunedin has the Distiller and while we may not have come up with a catchy brand just yet that's not stopping us from launching the Auckland Web Entrepreneurs Community and in true Auckland style we've managed to secure the most influential kiwi online Richard MacManus for our opening event.

Richards Blog ReadWriteWeb.com has been consistently rated in the Worlds Top Ten blogs and is now syndicated by the New York Times. Richards knowledge and experience on the social media space is invaluable to any local web entrepreneur looking to launch a product internationally. Through his blog he has the ability to direct 100's of thousands of visitors to any new site and we are very fortunate to have secured one of the very few public appearances he makes locally.

In this one off event Auckland Web Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the worlds leading new media identities whilst also having the opportunity to get dialed into the Auckland Web Eco-system

Start-UP TV Finale

They've been put through the wringer for the last 6 months, had their business and personal lives placed under extreme scrutiny and been thrown way outside their comfort zone all in an effort to create a World class online company.

Along the way they've been given unprecedented access to the biggest names in the local/ international online space and gained the support of large multi-national and local corporate organisations.

A series of challenges specifically geared to their individual business requirements has seen 18 companies eliminated from the series. Now two companies remain vying for one opportunity to launch their new online business in Silicon Valley at the worlds largest online business launch pad conference DEMO.

The Start-UP TV series finale will see the two remaining companies Aliveworld.com and Samespeak.com pitch head to head to a panel of online business experts. Each participant will be given 15mins each to present their all new and improved business and showcase the progress they've made over the last 6 months in an effort to convince the judges they should be the company to represent Start-UP NZ in Silicon Valley.

The entire evening will be filmed for TV with the winners named at the end of the night.
